miniature show…
So many wonderful things to see and buy. …not enough money, yet great ideas.
Hubby and I agreed, this would make a lovely cottage for Hitty (picture below). Too bad it was SOLD.
There was a kids section (only little ones were allowed to purchase items from this section). …these items were donated. Little Guy and Big Sis had a blast shopping for goodies within their budget.
We are all looking forward to next year’s miniature show!

Pennsburry Manor…
On Thursday we visited William Penn’s summer home with our homeschool co-op group.
After some fun with the leaves, it was time for the tour.
Writing with a quail pen…
the manor…
the porch (waiting room)…
Penn’s bedroom…
the nursery…
Hannah’s closet… (closet meant a private place)
the dinning room…
We all had a wonderful time, Hitty Hannah included. When the tour was over the children went to the garden. They had fun chasing a turkey, but weren’t thrilled when the turkey decided to chase them instead. …amazing how quickly children ran when the shoe is on the other foot. Big Sis lost her camera during this time, but in the end a fellow homeschooler retrieved it from a pile of wood.

no longer a child…
…all little girls must grow up

The child becomes a young lady…

Through the camera’s eye we’ll witness such a special event…

…her friends embrace this moment with her.

…suddenly it feels like a *fairy tale*

…round and round little girls dance.

…daddy will put on your *Young Lady* shoes

…Daddy’s Little Girl is all grown up

…we’re next

Happy Sweet 16!

a new old project…
I hand pieced this quilt top when my son was between 2 – 4 months old, now he’s 7 years old. I never got around to quilting it.

Now, I’m ready to start hand quilting!

a hitty is named…and two sleepy heads…
“What’s her name?’ was the first thing my children asked when I introduced them to the Hitty I carved. Followed by, “When are you carving one for me?” (times two)
Deciding on a name was no easy task. To me, she looks like a Maria Isabella de la Cruz, but others disagreed. …Big Sis cried. …we’re talking HUGE Tears!!!
Soooo, we finally agreed on a name everyone was happy with. And now, I’m proud to introduce you to Dorothy, Dot for short. She doesn’t want to be called Hitty Dorothy. …go figure! So Dorothy it is.
And they all lived Happily Ever After.

On another note; my children have been enjoying the benefits of homeschooling…

Climbing into Mommy’s bed and sleeping an extra 15 minutes (I think it was more like 30 minutes, but who’s counting).

carving retreat…
Last weekend (actually Wednesday through Sunday), I was at a *carving retreat*. Seven of us, along with the guidance of our fearless carving instructor (Janet Cordell), were determined to produce a Hitty or a Granny. …hopefully, by Sunday (August 23rd). I had no idea how I was going to complete my task.
Do you remember the doll I had previously carved? She took me a year to carve and paint. …but I was willing to take on the challenge. A lovely Hitty in four days.
Here are photos of my carving journey. Enjoy!

She’s all carved! Time test her pegs.
Note: toothbrush in the background is an important dust removal tool! …and no, it’s not mine

…to paint or not to paint!
Paint! Paint! Paint!
Poor Hitty lost her blush during her travel home. She is awaiting final touch ups.

In the mean time, outfits were made from the fabric she’s laying on. A set of these beautifully coordinated fabrics were gifted by Pat and BJ to each of the students and teacher attending the carving retreat.

I will forever cherish this experience. I not only came home with a lovely Hitty, I also had the privilege to befriend some of the most amazing people I have ever met. Did I mention, there were all sorts of *eye candy* (…The Fifers have a breath taking collection of dolls (loads of Hittys), dollhouses and miniatures).

Here’s picture of part of our work table.

H. Hannah and H. Faith also met other Hittys and friends. I’m sure she’ll write all about it on her blog.
